At the April 8th Borough Council meeting, I offered the following comment for Council’s consideration:

I would like to discuss a resolution that is likely to be included in the agenda for May. I am reaching out ahead of time to encourage you to reconsider your previous policy prior to the Council’s final decision.

Every since the Council first voted to fly the unity rainbow flag, I have expressed my concerns regarding the involvement of government in identity politics. It is my belief that the Council adopted this policy to demonstrate support for marginalized and vulnerable communities and maybe even address past injustices.

This year the pendulum of public opinion is swinging back toward common sense government. It can now be told that Council was sold snake oil propaganda built on a mountain of lies. The rainbow flag does not unify, it in fact reinforces differences and focuses on past grievances; hindering efforts to promote inclusivity.

The policy of promoting the divisive ideologies related to rainbow pride contributes to the diminishment of our national symbols. However, the negative consequences of this action are greater that that. To quote JK Rowling:

“Gender ideology has undermined freedom of speech, scientific truth, gay rights, and women’s and girls’ safety, privacy and dignity. It’s also caused irreparable physical damage to vulnerable kids.”

Signs of the global preference cascade away from the woke agenda are everywhere. For example even the Google calendar app has stopped mentioning various idenity events like Pride Month, Women’s History Month, and Black History Month. I urge the Council to acknowledge the changes in our world and discontinue supporting grievance politics. I respectfully request that the Council adopt a position that confirms that Borough government serves all individuals equally, without discrimination or favoritism. As President Theodore Roosevelt said in 1919:

“We have room for but one flag, the American flag”.
