My comments at the December 10th West Conshohocken Borough Council meeting:

Finalizing a budget requires significant focus and effort. As you reflect on your accomplishment, I would like to take this opportunity to wish the council a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and a Happy New Year. I would also like to make a suggestion on how the Council can potentially make the upcoming year even better.

It is anticipated that the upcoming year may yield a very robust economy; potentially one of the strongest in our history. It is rare to receive such clear indications regarding the future trajectory of the economy.

I would like to recommend that the finance committee convene with the Borough’s investment management company at the earliest opportunity. I recognize that the State imposes strict limitations on the types of investments available to a Borough. While there may be limited options for enhancing the Borough’s portfolio, I believe it is prudent to conduct a thorough review of the current holdings. I trust that the Council will consider my recommendation and take steps to capitalize on this exceptional situation.

I was told that the Borough Manager and Chair of the Finance Committee have reached out to the investment management company.
